Practical questions
Before Surgery or Sedation, Share the Complete Medicine List
An injectable prescribed by one clinician can be missed when a different team plans an operation or a procedure with sedation. Do not assume that a weight-related prescription is irrelevant, or that a rule found online applies to you. The useful action is early disclosure and a clear plan from the professionals responsible for the procedure.

Make disclosure specific enough to use
The NHS advises bringing information about medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements to pre-operative assessment. Include the actual product information and the clinician who prescribes it, rather than saying only that you use an injection. Answer the team’s questions about recent use accurately. If you are unsure about a detail, identify the uncertainty and ask the prescriber or pharmacist to help confirm it.

Ask for one individual, coordinated instruction
Ask whether the procedural or anaesthetic team needs to speak with your treating clinician. If instructions appear to conflict, request clarification rather than choosing whichever is more convenient. This page deliberately supplies no interval for withholding or restarting any medicine and no fasting timetable. Those decisions depend on the person and procedure and must come from the responsible clinical team. Keep their written guidance accessible.

Update the team when circumstances change
If the procedure date, medicine list or health situation changes, tell the team and ask whether the plan needs review. If you arrive without having disclosed an important medicine, say so immediately; do not hide it to avoid cancellation. An emergency is different from a planned appointment: give responders the information you have without delaying urgent care to assemble a perfect record.
Common questions
Does this article tell me when to stop an injection?
No. Obtain individual instructions from the responsible procedural team and prescriber.
Should I include supplements?
Yes. Give a complete list, including non-prescription and herbal products.
What if two instructions differ?
Ask the teams to clarify and coordinate them rather than making the medicine decision yourself.
Sources and information limits
Sources support general medical principles, not the UAE booking policies or service availability. Confirm instructions and local arrangements with the care provider. The update date does not claim clinician review.
Content policy and review statusQuestions before arranging an appointment?
Enquire about the next steps and availability. An enquiry does not confirm a booking or diagnosis and is not an emergency service.
